I am a people-watcher. I could sit all day in any public place watching everyone going about their day. I like to imagine that I have them all figured out just by what they wear, how they interact with others, and even by their facial expressions. So you better believe I’m also looking in your shopping cart at the grocery store if you pass by me. I’m not judging as much as I’m curious about who is awake to the highly toxic chemicals that pass as food in America and who knows enough to read labels and say no to all the processed garbage available to us.

Honestly, it saddens me when I look in an elderly or overweight person’s cart and see it full of cheap crap like soda, white bread, sugared cereal, ensure, oatmeal, and other GMO-ridden, chemical-laden junk. Either they don’t know any better or they can’t afford to eat properly and neither of these reasons is okay with me.

Unbiased, non-corporate-funded nutrition classes should be taught in every elementary school. School lunches should then back up what’s been taught. And don’t get me started on hospital food. The place we go to heal should serve the best whole foods available. Food is truly medicine and people do not get sick because they lack pharmaceutical drugs.

Fruits, vegetables, protein, and healthy full-fat oils need to be easily and readily available to every American regardless of location or socio-economic status. This isn’t the case because corporations run America. Lobbyists own our lawmakers. And money is far more important than the “lowly” people who make CEOs and corrupt politicians filthy rich.

So it all boils down to a heart issue. When people become more important than riches our food supply will finally feed our bodies as intended. Until then we have to do what we can and within our budgets to take care of ourselves and that is why I suggest eating at least one fermented food at every meal. Take the time to learn how to make your veggies, bread, pasta, and tea heal the damage that convenience foods have done to your body over the years. Do it as an act of defiance if you have to but do it.
